I think it was important for me to remember that certain levels of stress are normal and the worksheet reminded me of that. Almost every teenager in high school will experience situational and test anxiety, so I am not alone.

WHAT I LEARNED and PROBLEMS I SOLVED

I solved the problem of not having a super good organization system for my different classes schoology and zoom links by making bookmark folders.

Since it’s gotten colder all the leaves fell off the trees and it changed the way that the forest looked completely. Everything was more open and bright, though it did remind me of some places I’ve seen in horror movies.

WHAT I LEARNED and PROBLEMS I SOLVED

This week I solved the problem of not being efficient enough when it came to doing work. Making lists and following them helped a lot.

A GTD system can help me make progress.

I took my dog for a walk in the forest by my house and listened to some music. The woods were quite and the temperature was perfect so overall it was a very nice and peaceful walk and a good break from school. It even eased my election anxiety a little bit.

SUMMARY

This week I enjoyed learning more about film production and some film theory. It was also interesting because we are doing pretty much the exact same thing in English with the structure of stories.

PRACTICE ROOM (TUTORIALS)

CLASSROOM (THEORY & ANALYSIS)

I enjoyed the sneak on the lot activity, especially learning about some history of film and the different roles in production.

LAB (THEORY PRACTICED)

Causes of tension: Schoolwork, sports, geo-politics, future plans

OUTSIDE (CREATIVITY & THE BRAIN)

  • Someone discovering something about themselves or the world
  • A family coming to terms with their dysfunctionality
  • Someone making a hard decision
  • An awkward job interview
  • A psychopath internally narrating their day

STUDIO (FILMING)

I did like this video, but I have some contentions with the film theory. While the bulk of mainstream stories have a similar structure, there are many out of the ordinary and even ones that are alike can be so different at the same time.

WHAT I LEARNED and PROBLEMS I SOLVED

Today I finished up some homework for the week and also solved the problem of how to fix the sink in my kitchen (the issue was with the faucet)

SUMMARY

This week was kind of hard but also fun. I enjoyed the Sneak On The Lot activity and also finding video editing software. Overall, I learned some new things but not easily.

PRACTICE ROOM (TUTORIALS)

This was the playlist that I picked because iMovie is free on my pac and I have previous experience with it. This playlist provides good tutorials on how I can do more with it and make better films.

I enjoyed the sneak on the lot activity. I learned more about film making and am excited to use the site again in the future.

OUTSIDE (CREATIVITY & THE BRAIN)

On my walk I thought about what the story of my life is really like. I think as of now I’m still in the rising action and the climax will happen much later. I would also say that most of the conflict I experience is internal so if my life was a movie I’d either have to narrate my thoughts or talk to myself.

Film – Week 6 – Developing Quality Workflow

What is Workflow?

Image Creative Workflow from Behance.com, https://www.behance.net/gallery/27919515/Creative-workflow-GIF

Work•flow /ˈwərkflō/

“The sequence of industrial, administrative, or other processes through which a piece of work passes from initiation to completion.” – lexico.com

What is a quality workflow?  How do we develop it?  Below are elements of the production cycle that most creative people move through as they create something.  First, we must identify the stages of project production. What is each stage and what are the quality checks for each stage.  Read on and find out!

Stages of Creation Development

Inspiration

How do we find ideas to develop?

  • Tools: Social media, peers/co-workers
  • Process: Brainstorming, drafting, re-working
  • We measure the quality of our inspiration by how much it motivates us
  • We measure our own quality of inspiration

Intention

How do we clarify our specific goal(s) for a project?

  • Tools: Peers/collaboration
  • Process: Reflecting on the beginning of the project, writing down original ideas
  • Quality of intention is measured through the theme of the story, by the audience

Pre-production

How can we brainwrite, brainstorm, storyboard, and plan our ideas at this phase?

  • Tools: Online organization, pen and paper
  • Process: Brainstorming, drafting, re-working
  • Quality of pre-production is measured through the overall success of the project, by the producers and audience

Production

How do we communicate with each other and execute our plan for this phase? This is where we actually make the project.

  • Tools: Cameras & Mics etc…, group messaging, scheduling, writing plans
  • Process: Shooting individual scenes, review, put things together
  • Quality of production is measured through how well the audience perceives the movie to be made, reviews of actors, and other things like that, by the audience

Post-production

How do we communicate with each other and execute our final stages of the project for this phase? This is where we publish the project.

  • Tools: Editing software, peer review
  • Process: Getting rid of bad scenes, adjusting looks, putting work together
  • Quality of post-production is measured through how well the movie is edited, by the audience and producers

Presentation/Performance

How do we share our project with our learning community, advisory members, and the world?

  • Tools: Publish to Youtube, online streaming services, post on social media
  • Process: Good advertising, has a release date
  • Quality of Performance is measured through overall success of movie by the audience and critics

Feedback

How do we conduct a feedback session at the end of the project development cycle?

  • Tools: Social media, cast surveys
  • Process: Ask what improvements can be made and take note
  • Quality of feedback is measured through how much the next project is improved and also by the crew/cast
